Islamic scholars were called upon for comment after the first openly 'Gay' South African Imam was shot. They say this has nothing to do with Islam. Let's just check that.
Ulama: ”We can undoubtedly state that his killing was unconstitutional,”
Fact: True, but the S. Africa constitution is not Islamic so this is irrelevant
Ulama: ”Islam has and will always have a variety of understandings, some of which may not be accepted by other Muslims. The CTUB, along with the vast majority of South African Muslims, does not align with the views of the deceased. However, no belief or difference in opinion justifies violence.” Fact: Islamic doctrine is clearly against homosexuality and justifies violence
Koran 7:80-81 – The Punishment of Lut’s People "And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, 'Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with among the worlds? Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people.'"
Hadith Dawud 4462: Mohammed said, "Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done."
Ulama: “Islamic teachings firmly condemn violence, murder, or actions that undermine the law and destabilise society. Therefore, we urge our communities to allow the law to investigate the incident thoroughly, and through due process, we hope to maintain peace and order,”
Fact: Islamic teaching frequently endorces violence against homosexuals and 'unbelievers', the law that must not be undermined is sharia, and the society that must not be destabilized is Islamic.
Koran 4:59 "O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you."
Ibn Kathir's tafsir (commentary) on 4:59 states that rulers must apply sharia for their authority to be legitimate. "There is no obedience to any created being if it involves disobedience to the Creator." (Meaning, obedience is conditional on the ruler following Islam.)
Reliance of the Traveller - a Classic Manual of Islamic Law f1.3 'Someone raised among Muslims who...denies something which is necessarily known as being of the religion thereby becomes an unbeliever (kafir) and is executed for his unbelief'
Koran 5:33 "Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or that they be crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off on opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,"
Ibn Kathir's tafsir on 5:33 explains that `Wage war' mentioned here means, oppose and contradict [sharia], and it includes disbelief. This Imam was openly Gay and because he was an Imam there can be no doubt that he realized this was flouting the commands of 'Allah' which also made him guilty of 'kufr' - disbelief. Either way, openly gay or 'kufr' sharia authorizes the death penalty.
No loyalty to 'kafir' (non-Muslim) rulers
Koran 5:51 "O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them."' (which makes them a 'kafir')
Koran 8:39 "And fight them until there is no more fitna and [until] religion belongs to Allah alone."
Conclusion: The Imam's death has everything to do with Islam.
For being openly gay, which is punishable by death in Islamic law.
For knowingly violating sharia in a way that was seen as "kufr" against Islam and which also carries the death penalty.
Given that deception is permissible in Islam when the goal is permissible, and that more than half of Islamic doctrine is about the non-Muslim and promotes hatred against them and others (such as the Gay Imam) who do not conform to sharia, I ask again: When will Western authorities find out what the doctrine says for themselves?
Western authorities must seek the truth directly from the doctrine itself and from those who oppose it, rather than those whose explanations serve the 'cause of Allah'.
